7 Crossroads Brunch Spots to Hit After Your Massage

Founded in Overland Park, Kansas in the 90s, this ma n’ pa shop’s claim to fame is the “best breakfast sandwich in KC.” While it may have a few competitors for the title, Mildred’s holds its own with an array of other delicious breakfast sandwiches, quiche, and potatoes. Mildred’s is an easy jaunt from Solaris Massage, sitting at the corner of 19th and Wyandotte. It’s open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and breakfast is available all day long. 


2. Lidia’s (0.4 miles)

If you’re looking for a slightly more formal brunch experience, Lidia’s might be your cup of tee. Enjoy an appetizer buffet filled with goodies from their in-house bakery, luxurious jams, breadsticks, fruit, cured meats, and other seasonal items at the antipasti table. But don’t forget to save room for the main course. Brunch at Lidia’s also includes your choice of one classic Italian dish. If that’s not enough, desserts are up for grabs as well. This opulent brunch costs $29.50 per person and is served Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. 


3. Chez Elle (0.4 miles)

Parlez vous Française? English works just fine at this adorable creperie on 17th and Summit. Francophiles and crêpe-lovers alike flock to Chez Elle Creperie and Coffeehouse for warm, fresh crepes robust coffees, and friendly service. Choose from a wide array of both savory and sweet crêpes that are sure to hit the spot. Be sure to check the hours before you go: Monday, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.; Tuesday - Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.; Friday - Saturday, 7:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.; and Sunday, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. 


4. Blue Bird Bistro (0.5 miles)

Eclectic meets Victorian in this quaint and fully organic restaurant. If you or your brunch buddy have dietary restrictions, there’s a good chance their menu can accommodate. Their farm-to-table brunch menu includes a rotating omelet made with Campo Lindo Farm cage-free eggs, a vegan tofu scramble, a wild-caught salmon benedict, and a whole slew of other brunch classics with an earth-friendly twist. 


5. Westside Local Blunch (0.5)

A Sunday-only specialty, The Westside Local’s blunch menu is a force to be reckoned with. Their fresh, creative farm-to-table food is best described as elevated comfort food. Served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., blunch offers indulgent items like a donut plate-starter and heart-stopping breakfast sammies; or you can skip straight to the classics like biscuits n’ gravy or chicken n’ waffles. We recommend making a reservation for this one and wearing stretchy pants if ya got ‘em. 


6. Grünaeur (0.5 miles)

For an Austrian-themed brunch extravaganza, Grünaeur offers their Frühschoppen Menu on Sundays. Frühschoppen is a bit tough to translate, but it’s traditionally a Sunday gathering centered a dish called “Stelze.” Stelze is slow-roasted pork shank meant to be shared and eaten with beer. While the shank takes center stage at Frühschoppen, Grünaeur also offers a variety of authentic Austrian dishes to enjoy. 


7. Messenger Coffee Co. Café (0.8 miles)

Attached to Ibis Bakery, the Messenger Coffee Café offers fresh-baked bread and pastries, poached eggs, and silken lattés so good you’ll think you’ve died and gone to heaven. But their fresh and delicious menu is only a fraction of the fun. Inside, you can belly up to the bakery counter and watch the bakers work, or head upstairs and catch a glimpse of the coffee beans roasting. If the weather’s nice, you can also head up to the rooftop patio for a breezy view of the city. The café is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. all week long.
